Nkwambila Bwe and Kanchele also played the main parts together with their wives in a play entitled "Planting window" that followed the 'commercial break. This play reinforced the main ideas discussed earlier in the broadcast.
The plays used in the various broadcasts were all designed to make the audience laugh, and the same characters returned each week. A small payment had to be made to the radio station that broadcasted the programmes. However, the programmes became so popular that the station agreed for the programmes to be retransmitted at no further cost.
Listeners were encouraged to tape the broadcasts and use them as a basis for further discussion at group meetings. This helps to strengthen interactions among farmers and reduces the possibilities of any individual farmer misunderstanding what he has heard on
the broadcast.
